Various tragic events, increase in workplace violence and growing concerns for securing the environment of care have become more challenging for hospitals. Enhancing awareness to preventive measures, guidelines and codes has become of the highest importance for protecting staff and patients. During the survey process DNV GL Healthcare has focused the review of what hospitals are doing to ensure adherence to the NFPA 99 Security Management standards and the value of conducting a thorough security vulnerability analysis (SVA).

Bob Goodner, a survey team leader and physical environment specialist for DNV GL Healthcare, will share his insights and discuss the aspects of security management and the SVA as this is applied under the National Integrated Accreditation for Healthcare (NIAHO) requirements and NFPA 99. Synjyn Dodd, System Director of Safety, Security and Emergency Management, Emerus Holdings, and Kelly Proctor, Physical Environment Sector Leader, DNV GL Healthcare will also share their insights.

He is currently employed as a Physical Environment Sector Leader and a Lead Surveyor for DNV-GL Healthcare. Kelly has performed over 450 surveys for DNV-GL and has surveyed hospitals all over the United States, South America, Europe and Asia for DNV-GL.

Kelly holds a Master’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering and is a Certified Healthcare Facilities Manager and a Certified Healthcare Safety Manager as well as a Certified Healthcare Operations Professional. He is also a certified Lead Auditor for ISO 9001 and 14001 and a certified NIAHO Lead Surveyor.
