Standalone psychiatric facilities now have a choice when it comes to their deemed accreditation. DNV GL Healthcare received its deeming authority for psychiatric facilities from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services in August 2020.

Since 2007, DNV GL Healthcare has accredited more than 600 acute care and critical access hospitals across the United States. It is now using the same rigorous approach to accredit psychiatric hospitals, based on the ISO 9001 quality management control system and an emphasis on continuous improvement through risk-based thinking. And while being committed to ensuring patients are safe and receiving the highest quality of care, DNV GL’s survey process is non-prescriptive, leaving hospital management to make their own decisions about how to improve operations.

DNV GL Healthcare is an affiliate of Det Norske Veritas, one of the oldest quality certification organizations in the world, and a global leader in healthcare, maritime and environmental safety.
